Welcome. What you will find here will be my random thoughts and reactions to various books I have read, films I have watched, and music I have listened to. In addition I may (or may not as the spirit moves me) comment about the fantasy world we call reality, which is far stranger than fiction.

HAPPY NEW YEAR!
May the coming year be a happy and healthy year for you. Regardless of what kind of year 2017 was for you, I hope 2018 will be a better one of all of us.
Happy New Year! I'm not sure why people are down on 2017..2015 was the annus horriblis, given the number of police deaths, rioting, shootings, etc. Hurricane Irma was the worst thing I can remember from this year..
In my quest to conquer Mount TBR, I ended up only reading 54 of the 65 I had hoped to read. But I'm happy. I ended up reading over 150 books total. Five of them were books I purchased in 2017 (hence not on the TBR list) and the rest were library books, so I greatly reduced my backlog.
madamevauquer, I purchased 13 in 2017, which is a low number for me. I also read 45 from TBR. I read many more, but those were either from the library or weren't located on Mount TBR. So, I ended up with a net reduction of 45 from Mount TBR. I'm going for 50 this year.
CyberKitten, I think last year was the first year in a long time that I managed to reduce Mount TBR. Of course the number I got from the library went up considerable.

ReplyDeleteCyberKitten, yes, exactly. Without hope is there a reason for getting out of bed in the morning?

DeleteDespite reading 69 books last year my TBR piles have grown again..... Oh to have a big enough house to have more shelves installed.... [lol]

DeleteI hope I can do it again.
Good luck on your 50 this year, Fred!
DeleteCyberKitten, I'm like Fred, 2017 was the first year I can ever recall reducing my TBR piles. Usually I way overbuy.
madamevauquer, thanks. I hope it works as well this year.
DeleteR.T., my usual one--to make no resolutions.
